Bowser's Lava Lair 1
Advanced (1P VERSION)
0:00 - Do not skip Intro Cutscenes for RTA Simulation (Whomp Cycles will vary if you do)
0:18 - Be careful not to spin too late as Mario will spin back out of the gravity field. This example spins optimally but an earlier spin is much safer.
0:23 - Pay close attention to the control stick angles throughout this triple jump as they affect whether or not Mario will land with running speed.
0:29 - A safer option to avoid the fireballs here is to strain a long jump then do an additional one right over them, only losing ~0.5s at most.
0:46 - Climbing up this wall is significantly easier if you aim to get an angled wall jump so that the second spin is closer to the edge.
0:55 - Patience is key here. Do not rush as the whomp must be turning in order to optimally get past him without taking damage.
1:19 - Long Jump straight down-right, and gradually rotate with the camera so that the control stick is facing the same direction as Mario. Wait until you land on the first statue, then immediately switch to neutral on the control stick and perform a long jump after the burn hop. For the second and third statues, make sure to delay the long jumps just enough so that you avoid slipping off them.
1:33 - DOUBLE LOCK STRAT - It is possible to hit two of these locks at the same time by ground pounding nearer to the centre of the meteor. That being said it is extremely precise and near impossible to replicate without luck.
1:47 - This long jump to get closer to the gate is very risky if you get greedy and don't strain enough. Spin early to get the height required.
2:26 - BOWSER FIGHT - This fight is very straightforward, but be careful not to take damage as dying here will lose a lot of time. Run around the planet, have Bowser punch close to one of the meteors, wait until after he's hit the ground to initiate the jump + ground pound.
